How Bankbazaar.com started?
Adhil started Bankbazaar when he was 28 years. He was in Chennai, after having moved back from the US. It was a tough and stressful time for Adhil that he left his high paid job in New York City and was living in his parent’s house, Chennai. At this time Shetty was worried about his startup venture whether the startup will grow, will customers accept it, will banks be happy, governments regulations and support, etc. He was stressful until 30. On November 2007, Adhil along with another two co-founders Arjun Shetty (his brother) and Rati Shetty (Arjun’s wife) founded BankBazaar.com with the goal of simplifying people’s personal finance by providing the contents and services which can be accessed online with the help of the internet. The idea of BankBazaar came into their mind when they tried to get approval for their home loan but the process was very long and tiring. With this bitter experience, they thought about making an online portal where these types of services can be availed by sitting at home without going through a long process. Their idea was helping customers and BankBazaar became a hit within a few years.
Bank Bazaar was started with only Rs. 45 Lakh and 6 people. Till now, some of the biggest organizations and investors such as Amazon, Experian Ventures, Walden, Sequoia Capital and Eight Roads have funded in BankBazaar. Currently, BankBazaar is headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
