Early & Personal Life
Garrett Gee was only nine years old when his parents split. He went to high school in Utah with his father and spent time in California with his mother.
He worked as an LDS in Russia where he met his better half/life partner Jessica. He served a two-year mission in Vladivostok, Russia. Jessica was from Denver who was also serving as LDS mission in Vladivostok when they met.
Currently, Gee has three children, namely Dorothy, Manilla, and Calihan.
Garrett Gee married Jessica in 2009. They lived in Provo, Utah. The family decided to travel the world and sold their almost everything and later sold the Scan App to the Snapchat for the value of $54M.
Gee has one brother and four sisters and one stepmother.
Education & Career:
Garret Gee completed his schooling from Utah Highland and went to Brigham Young University, but didn’t complete study to launch his company Scan Inc.
Garrett Gee received a smartphone in 2009. He entered the technology life unexpectedly after when he downloaded an app which scanned and read UPC barcodes used to purchase retail products. Gee didn’t like it and deleted the app. He later for the replacement of the app tried to find another one but didn’t able to get one. So Garrett considered designing one himself and made the Mobile QR & Barcode Scanner App, “Scan.” After a massive success of the app, he along his classmate formed the company, Scan Inc. When he was designing the app, he was a student at Brigham Young University. He took six months to develop the user-friendly Scanning app with the help of his friends Ben Turley and Kirk Ouimet.
In 2011 Gee, Ouimet and Turley formed the Scan Inc. Gee became CEO, Ouimet COO, and Turley CTO.
They raised $8M in two years and upgraded its features that respond to the consumer requests. By the year 2012 Scan has been downloaded over 25 million times and 27 million regular monthly scans.
In December 2014, they sold the Scan app for $54M to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel. The app was generating revenue of $60,000 per month. Currently, he is developing a new app.

Garrett loves travelling and exploring the world a lot. Aside from all the things, he said that the passion for his life best describes in one word that is “CREATION.” Designing, Creating a business, creating ventures, creating relationships, creating products, creating websites, creating harmony, creating ideas, creating theories, creating quotes, creating images, creating music, creating dance, creating fashion, creating events, creating surprises. He loves to keep dreaming and wake up early.
Gee loves sports a lot. Soccer was his first love. At Brigham Young University he was the captain for their Soccer Team. He also enjoys sailing, snowboarding, basketball, riding, and fixie.
Where is He Settled Down?
After travelling more than 60 countries, Gee bought their first place to call home at Hawai Island.
He has created Instagram, Youtube, and Blog for sharing their world travel called Bucket List Family.
“One of our main hopes was that we could find a place that would teach our children — especially in their young formative years — to build healthy habits and hobbies like surfing, hiking, and snorkelling,” says Garrett on People 1) People , “instead of video games, iPods and watching too much TV.
