Mingxing was born on 3rd April 1987 in Beijing, China. He had done his graduation, Bachelor degree in Applied Physics from the University of Science and Technology Beijing in the year 2006.

In the year 2013 Mingxing Xu( also known as star Xu) founded OKCoin.com and OKEx, a worldwide service-based Cryptocurrency Exchange Platform.
He has been also arrested in October 2020 because Okex has issued an Announcement on “Suspension of Withdrawals” on the 16th of October as one of the key holders was unreachable, then rumours spread that it was Star Xu. Then he has been taken by the Chinese police under custody for 1 month and finally he has been released in November.
